Digital Mammography Equipment, 2007: $850,000
In 2007, The Health Foundation conducted a very successful campaign to raise $850,000 for the purchase of a digital mammography machine, specialized ultrasound probe and mammography room renovations at the Regional Health Centre in Yorkton. The Yorkton Co-op donated $50,000 at the start of the campaign, and the Credit Unions of east central Saskatchewan committed $100,000 to help get the fundraising campaign started. The campaign concluded just before Christmas, with the required funds having been raised thanks to literally hundreds of donations of all sizes.

Ultrasound, 2006: $248,008
The technology of the new ultrasound machine is about 12 years newer than the machine it is replacing. This new machine will provide clearer images to enable earlier diagnosis and better outcomes of treatment for some medical conditions. This equipment is in addition to the Colour Doppler Ultrasound purchased by The Health Foundation in 1999, with the new machine doing finer detail work. The department now has three good machines, each one of which can do about 3,000 scans a year, and the department does twice as many scans as seven years ago.

Respiratory Equipment, 2004: $108,800
The pulmonary respiratory testing equipment purchased because of this successful campaign can now tell the 500 patients seen each year at the Regional Health Centre why they are having problems. The equipment measures and tests breathing, measures the strength of the lungs and how well air passes into the blood stream from your lungs, and can analyze exhaled air and determine what gasses are in the breath. Equipment for a new sleep apnea program was also purchased.

CT Scanner, 2004: $345,000
The successful campaign to purchase a CT scanner for the Regional Health Centre meant that more than 2,000 people from east central Saskatchewan, who previously travelled to Regina, Saskatoon, Dauphin, Calgary, Brandon or the USA annually for CT scans, could now receive this service locally. With this equipment now located in our region, waiting lists are reduced, and diagnosis and treatment times is quicker. The local share of the equipment was $300,000, raised by The Health Foundation thanks to the generous support of individuals, organizations and businesses in the region.

Ophthalmologic Surgical Microscope, 2004: $89,000
The Health Foundation purchased an advanced surgical microscope that creates the best possible light conditions for the surgeon. This enables a greater range of operations to be performed. This state-of-the-art equipment allows the surgeon to complete the surgery in less time. The main operation preformed with this surgical microscope is the removal of cataracts, but there are also a number of other surgical procedures for which the microscope is used.

ICU Equipment, 2003-04: $410,000
Funded in large part by the Giving... it's great medicine! campaign, the Intensive Care Unit at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre was upgraded and new equipment purchased, including ventilators, cardiac monitors and beds.

Dialysis Equipment, 2003: $135,000
Hemodialysis is a treatment for people suffering kidney failure. This treatment cleans the blood and removes wastes and excess water from the body. Normally, healthy kidneys do this work. The Health Foundation raised the funds to purchase four top quality dialysis machines. This allowed the number of dialysis patients to double to 16. With the addition of more staff, it has since doubled again to 32 patients.

X-Ray Fluoroscopy Machine, 2002: $460,793
State-of-the-art X-ray equipment purchased for the Yorkton Regional Health Centre by The Health Foundation in 2002 gave residents of the health region more enhanced radiology services and continued excellent care close to home. The equipment was purchased with funds raised by The Health Foundation's Giving...it's great medicine! campaign. It is used primarily for performing studies of the upper gastrointestinal tract. However it is a versatile machine and most procedures can be performed on it in the event the health centre's other equipment is not functioning.

Multi-purpose Health Care Centre, 2001-2002: $6,500,000
A campaign to raise funds for health care facilities and equipment was conducted in 2001-02 under the theme Giving... it's great medicine! The undertaking was the largest fund-raising campaign ever in Yorkton and region. It assisted in the construction of the multi-purpose health care facility adjacent to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, provided funds for the Intensive Care Unit, contributed to the X-Ray Fluoroscopy campaign, and supplemented the education endowment fund by $50,000.

Colour Doppler Ultrasound, 1999: $204,000
In 1998-99 The Health Foundation made its first significant purchase: a state-of-the-art colour Doppler ultrasound machine at a cost of $204,000. The ultrasound machine allowed the expansion of diagnostic services for the residents of east central Saskatchewan. It provided for an additional 3,000 exams per year, consisting of high quality fine detail imaging.
